MPNHE Course Outline

Prerequisites

Fundamentals I: Introduction to fundamentals, basic breath patterns, and the Pilates’ philosophy, history, and principles. Receive Joseph Pilates’ Return to Life through Contrology book.

Fundamentals II: Review basic fundamentals and learn additional fundamental exercises for variation. Learn modifications, hand and verbal cueing, and postural analysis. Discuss Return to Life through Contrology.

Core Curriculum

Level I: Complete outline of entire teacher training program. Review of all Level I exercises on the Trapeze Table, Universal Reformer, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, and Spine Corrector. Learn how to integrate the fundamental concepts into the level I work.

Level II: Review of all Level II exercises on the Trapeze Table, Universal Reformer, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, and Spine Corrector. Learn how to “read” a clients body to determine basic problems. Also learn how to transition a client from one level to the next.

Level III: Review of all Level III exercises on the Trapeze Table, Universal Reformer, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, and Spine Corrector. Learn how to create a balanced workout for the body in front of you. Also learn how to conduct evaluations.

Level IV: Review of all Level IV exercises on the Trapeze Table, Universal Reformer, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, and Spine Corrector. Learn how to challenge your client. Also learn how to develop a program for you client. Discuss the art of being a teacher.

Electives

Anatomy I: Introduction to the human musculo-skeletal system. Learn how to see bony landmarks. Discuss common postural problems. Learn how to correct the most common complaints and injuries.

Anatomy II: Introduction to the Priority system. Learn how to read specific muscular patterning. Discuss why moving the body is so important for whole health.

Nutrition I: Introduction to the Priority system. Discuss the idea “the body is smarter than your mind.” Learn the basic elements for whole health. Discuss the importance of ATP.

Nutrition II: Learn most common food allergies, sensitivities, and toxicities. Address why certain foods are not metabolized in your body. Discuss why supplementation may/is necessary.

Muscle Testing I: Introduction to the Priority system. We will discuss polarity and the electrical current in the body. Learn how to muscle test to determine a correct response.

Muscle Testing II: Using the Priority system, discuss why common complaints are often due to poor diet, inadequate nutrition, and environmental toxins and how these factors are indicated through the muscle test response.

Meditation I: Introduction to Meditation. Discuss the importance of incorporating daily meditations for a more healthful and balanced life.

Meditation II: Discuss the many ways one can meditate to manifest all that he or she desires. Learn different visualization and breathing techniques to calm the mind and balance the body.

Organic Pregnancy: Information on how to have a healthy, safe, and natural pregnancy starting months before a woman conceives. Topics include: diet and nutrition, best supplements for conceiving and throughout pregnancy, information about toxins, pesticides, and man-made chemicals and how this can affect you and your future baby, and information on natural child birth and the ever-lasting side effects of drugs during labor.

Prenatal Pilates I: Introduction to anatomy and physiology of pregnancy. Learn safe exercises, modification, and progressions to develop a prenatal Pilates Mat lesson. Discuss complications and common conditions during pregnancy.

Prenatal Pilates II: Recommended if a student is Pilates equipment trained. Learn many prenatal equipment-based Pilates lesson plans. Discuss why Pilates can be an empowering component to a woman’s pregnancy.
